Film series "Shared Histories – Collaboration in Ethnographic Film"

An enchanting post-colonial portrait of her Senegalese ancestral farming village and traditions of oral storytelling by Safi Faye, one of the first internationally acclaimed female filmmakers from Africa.


The children gather below the Kapok tree, so the village elder can pass on his knowledge of the founding of the village in the 16th century and the local customs.
