BOILING WATER is a multimedia performance by Marcio Canabarro in collaboration with Savio Debernardis, Sandra Blatterer, and Marc Lohr. Integrated audio description is provided by Emmilou Roessling and Silja Korn.
In search of less self-reference and a greater awareness of the inevitable process of fictionalizing reality—through hopes, fears, projections, and expectations—Marcio Canabarro initiates a process of autofictional writing as a radical form of honesty and mindfulness.
In this process, a series of stories emerge that form a cosmogony, which he explores through various artistic media. In doing so, he creates a work that challenges the linearity and taxonomy of time and medium.
Through a hybrid methodology—consisting of autofiction, narrative vinyl tracks, scripts, and visual traces—he speculates on a form of access that does not depend on the predominance of the visual, but rather invites polyphony, fragmentation, and sensory heterogeneity.
This attempt to multiply the voice of artistic research makes it clear that art does not emerge in isolation, but in interaction—be it as a reflection or response to socio-cultural and local environments, or through its interweaving with diverse expertise and aesthetic sensibilities.
Collaboration is evident in writing, in the collection of fragments, in narratives, in sound building, in the conceptualization of space and its treatment as an installation-based dance production—in the creation of a hyper-object that relies on many people and their perceptions.
