The heroism of famous figures from ancient history often lies like a dazzling protective film, making it difficult to see beneath the surface. But what happens when we try to see through the glimmer, peeling it away layer by layer?
This odyssey does not seek to tell a story of success, but rather the opposite. It reveals the cracks in the skin of its protagonist and digs into them with its hands. Odysseus appears as a man who wanders around, driven by war trauma and the search for a home, who, if you look closely, is not free from fear either. What a burden it is to always play the hero! But perhaps there is also something dazzling in failure.
In this one-hour monologue, Mila Suttree paints an idiosyncratic and multi-layered portrait of one of the most famous figures of Greek antiquity.
