Open your ears, close your eyes: a unique sound journey in the heart of the museum

How consciously do people really listen to music? In everyday life, images and stimuli often distract us - the fine nuances of sounds are lost. Music in the Dark invites you to open your ears again and experience music more intensely.

What can you expect?

Concert in the dark: First, it's time to lean back - or better: lie down! Equipped with eye masks, the visual stimuli are switched off.

Acoustic journey of discovery: The sounds of historical and modern instruments unfold in the open space of the museum. The clavichord plays quiet melodies, electronic sounds vibrate from above, and singing accompanied by the oud can be heard from afar. Each new sound is announced by a bell toll.

Feel physically: At the end of the concert, music becomes a physical experience - first through humming together, then through the powerful sound waves of the impressive Mighty Wurlitzer organ.

Be actively involved!

After the listening experience, everyone immerses themselves together in the world of instruments:

  • Where did the sounds come from? How does the clavichord or the oud work?
  • What stories do these instruments tell?

The listeners take off their masks, explore the museum and exchange ideas about the timbres, functions and history of the instruments they hear.

Experience music like you've never heard it before!
