In 2005, Adrian Oetiker (piano) and the Berlin Philharmonic, Christoph Streuli (violin), and David Riniker (cello), founded the Feininger Trio. They feel a close connection to their trio's namesake, the painter, graphic artist, and co-founder of the Bauhaus, Lyonel Feininger, both personally and creatively. Feininger's Berlin studio was located not far from the ensemble's rehearsal space in the Berlin-Zehlendorf district, is a work they feel closely connected to.
