Man as a measure? – Gender awareness in medicine

For a long time, a 70 to 75 kilogram man was considered the reference weight in medicine and pharmacology. Gender – both biologically and socially – significantly influences health.

Women, men, and intersex people develop illnesses differently, display different symptoms, and respond differently to therapies or medications. Health behaviors also often differ – and can be crucial for the effectiveness of preventive and treatment measures.

  • What is the current status of gender-sensitive research?
  • Why are women still underrepresented in many studies?
  • How can these data gaps be closed?
  • And what is needed for the healthcare system to equally consider and provide adequate care for all genders?

At the ZEIT FORUM Gesundheit (ZEIT FORUM Health), experts from science, teaching, and practice will discuss the current state of research, new approaches, and answer your questions.

This event series is free of charge and is aimed at anyone interested in health.
