Painting and sculpture by Sibylle Meister
From August 15, 2025, Galerie Grünstraße invites you to the new exhibition "Time for Blue."
The exhibition features current works by Berlin-based artist Sibylle Meister, who impresses with her colorful paintings and, for the first time, with sculptural works. The focus of the exhibition is on maritime and landscape motifs – from ice bathing to the tides – as well as physical presence in sculptural form.
The paintings on display – predominantly oil on canvas – combine figuration with abstraction. Meister works in dense, multi-layered compositions, layering, scratching, spatulating, and superimposing various materials such as oil, acrylic, chalk, pigments, and ink. Her landscapes and observations of nature become luminous pictorial spaces full of movement, light, and atmosphere.
A special highlight of the exhibition are her new sculptures, in which the artist intensively explores the female body in sculptural form for the first time.
Sibylle Meister lives and works in Berlin. She studied at the Berlin-Schöneweide University of Applied Sciences (Diploma in Design), the Free University of the Arts, and the Free Berlin Art School. She has been working as a freelance artist since 1997. Her works have been exhibited nationally and internationally and are included in private and public collections.
