NoonSong - Song & Prayer

Just how
different early Baroque sacred music can sound becomes clear today: the
Palestrina pupil Viadana writes melodious, humble music for Catholic services
in Rome, while the Protestant Schütz performs in the Venetian style in full
eight-part harmony and with soloists.

Liturgie: 3. Sonntag nach Trinitatis

  • Preces: William Byrd (ca. 1540-1623): Preces & Responses
  • Tagespsalm: Psalm 33 Lodovico Viadana (1560-1627): Exultate justi
  • Wochenpsalm: Psalm 103 Heinrich Schütz (1585-1672): Lobe den Herren, meine Seele (SWV 39)
  • Canticum: Lodovico Viadana (1560-1627): Magnificat: Meine Seele preist die Größe des Herrn
  • Choral: Hans Leo Haßler (1564-1612): Allein zu Dir, Herr Jesu Christ

NoonSong - what's that?
