HKW Summer Festival on the Paulette Nardal Terrace
On July 18, the Sonic Pluriverse Festival will once again bring sonic diversity to the roof terrace of the HKW: Novalima and The Dhol Foundation will perform live before Harry Kalsi closes the evening with a DJ set in the Sylvia Wynter Foyer.
Novalima
The Peruvian cult band returns to Europe after a seven-year hiatus with their new album La Danza. Since its formation in 2000, Novalima has been combining Afro-Peruvian rhythms with modern electronics—a sound that has earned them international recognition, a Grammy nomination, and worldwide festival appearances. The project originally emerged through music file exchanges between four friends from Lima who lived in different countries.
The Dhol Foundation
The British group led by Johnny Kalsi brings the powerful sounds of the dhol drum to the big stage – powerful, multicultural, and danceable. With influences from rock, drum and bass, West African rhythms, and bhangra, they create hybrid soundscapes full of energy. The Dhol Foundation has been a rhythmic figurehead of the global music scene for decades – and remains Kalsi's passion project.
Harry Kalsi
Harry Kalsi will close the event with a set in the Sylvia Wynter Foyer. The son of Johnny Kalsi represents the next generation of artists who are reinterpreting bhangra with electronic beats and fresh energy.
