From July 2 to September 14, the Women's Art Caravan Berlin will be showing its new exhibition entitled “VIRIDITAS – The Power of Nature” in the reception hall of the Gardens of the World.

Ten female artists from Marzahn-Hellersdorf will present works created as part of the 20th anniversary of the Oriental-Islamic Garden.

Inspired by the idea of viriditas – the power of green, as described by Hildegard von Bingen in the 12th century – and by the concept of the garden as a place of paradise in Islamic culture, the artists explore the power, beauty, and symbolism of nature.

A wide range of artistic positions will be on display: Christel Bachmann's series recalls the floral splendor of the International Garden Exhibition, Marita Czepa takes up the colors of Islamic art, Ingrid Engmann finds happiness in the blooming grass, while Inka Engmann shows nature from unusual perspectives. Elvira Mewes devotes herself to the lady's slipper orchid, and Antje Püpke humorously illustrates the “gardener of the world.”. Andrea Sroke explores the significance of water, while Ingeborg Teetz uses bold colors to express scents and landscapes. Annette Weiske discovers the ornamental diversity of gardens in frottages and drawings, and Birgit Wiemann uses ceramic works to give nature a warning voice for peace and mindfulness.

The Frauen-Kunst-Karawane (Women's Art Caravan), founded in Berlin-Marzahn in 2010, sees itself as a traveling art project that makes artistic diversity visible from a female perspective and brings current social issues into the public sphere.
