HKW Summer Festival on the Paulette Nardal Terrace

Ti Moris and Mokoomba will be performing live on the roof terrace at the HKW Summer Festival on July 12. Shiru will then round off the evening with a DJ set in the Sylvia Wynter Foyer.

Ti Moris

Ti Moris follows in the tradition of maloya, a musical genre from the island of La Réunion that emerged from African, Indian, and European influences. The music tells stories of work, oppression, and hope, accompanied by traditional instruments such as the rouler drum and the kayamb. Ti Moris, once a member of Danyèl Waro, continues the musical legacy of his ancestors with a family ensemble that is performing in Germany for the first time.

Mokoomba

The six-piece band from Zimbabwe combines Afrobeat, rock, and traditional rhythms from their hometown of Victoria Falls. For over 20 years, Mokoomba has been thrilling festival audiences worldwide with their energetic Afro-fusion. Their international breakthrough came in 2012 with the album Rising Tide, produced by Manou Gallo.

Shiru

The Berlin-based radio producer, DJ, and researcher combines political perspectives with sounds from the past and present of the African continent and the diaspora in her sets. As host of the program élan vital (Refuge Worldwide), she brings musical diversity and unexpected connections to life.
