Christian Zeiske was pastor of the German-speaking Protestant congregation in Rhodes. This evening, he will speak about one of the largest and most beautiful synagogues in Greece and the history of Rhodes' Jewish community, which is mentioned as early as the 2nd century BCE in the First Book of Maccabees, survived the Crusaders, Turkish, and Italian rulers, but has not yet recovered from the almost complete deportation by the Germans in 1944.
