Black voices tell stories
In the exhibition "The War and Me" and a subsequent workshop, young people will explore the topics of flight, loss, resistance and memory from a Black perspective.
Together with the project "Postcolonial Memory(s)" by the Afro-diasporic association Sources-d'Espoir e.V., the Mitte Museum is offering a tour of the exhibition "The War and I" followed by a workshop for young people aged between 14 and 18.
In the interactive exhibition in the museum garden, participants will learn more about the lives and wartime experiences of children from Germany, France and the USSR during the Second World War.
In the workshop, which is designed and run by Sources-d'Espoir e.V., participants will explore the topics of flight, loss, resistance and remembrance from a Black perspective. With the help of creative and participatory methods, the young people artistically approach Black biographies from the National Socialist era and from today's refugee contexts. Based on this, the participants share their own experiences and family stories and reflect together on the culture of remembrance, racism and resilience.
The format is particularly suitable for schools, youth clubs and migrant self-organizations.
