The exhibition SHELTER//SHIELD at Paint Shop Berlin brings together the artistic positions of Jane Garbert and Sophia Muriel in a joint presentation, opening in July 2025.

POSTER SHELTER//SHIELD – Duo-Ausstellung von Jane Garbert und Sophia Muriel im Paint Shop Berlin
The focus is on concepts of protection, visibility, and resistance – negotiated from a female perspective between vulnerability and strength. Garbert and Muriel use everyday materials, used objects, and textile traces to create poetic-political spaces.
Their sculptural and installation works rely on an aesthetic language of transition: soft meets hard, transparent meets opaque, presence meets emptiness.
SHELTER//SHIELD reveals vulnerability as power and makes intimate experiences such as care, shame, and memory visible – without romanticizing them. The exhibition invites an exploration of identity, self-assertion, and collective perception.
