Kechou

Kerim Melik Becker aka Kechou is a multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, rapper, producer and instrument maker currently based in Berlin. combines with electronic elements and music styles such as Gnawa, Raï, Afrobeat, Kwaito and the like. Various self-designed and self-built instruments contribute to his very own expression and sound. He plays, sings and raps in French, English and German, occasionally using words from the Algerian dialect Darija. In his songs, he speaks of love and pain, of origins, of migration and belonging and the grief and loneliness of people in today's society. His recent explorations have brought him closer to imagined realms of peace and relief for himself and community, as well as the cultivation of healing practices in the realm of somatic experiencing and sonic journeys.
