July 1, 2025, marks the 100th anniversary of the death of the famous French composer and pianist Erik Satie (May 17, 1866–July 1, 1925). To mark the occasion, cultural journalist Steffen Prell will play Satie's piano piece "Vexations" ("Torments"), one of the longest pieces of music in the world: one theme, two variations – and the composer's casual instruction to repeat the short piece 840 times.

To mark Satie's 100th anniversary, the church interior of St. Matthew's Church will become the site of an all-day musical meditation – a day halfway between meditation and a musical marathon.

An invitation to sit, listen, and "open your mind" – whether for five minutes or several hours.
