DURCHLÜFTEN – 2025 Live Concerts & DJ Acts

For free, open air and under palm trees: This summer again, the DURCHLÜFTEN festival transforms the Humboldt Forum’s large courtyard into a vibrant meeting point of sound, rhythm, and culture.

Over four weekends, the stage will pulse with music from across the globe: from the raw energy of Mexican Cumbia-punk to the hypnotic groove of Kenyan Dodo Blues, from the electrifying syncopations of Congolese Soukous to the powerful messages of Afro-futuristic big bands. Caribbean-infused Japanese folk, soulful jazz, hip hop, and the joy and resilience of Frafra-gospel round off  this celebration of sound— borderless, multi-perspective, and irresistably danceable!

Jeano Elong & Not OK Jazz (Kamerun, Hamburg)

Drums and djembé, fuzzed-up electric piano sounds, psychedelic synthesizers and edgy guitars in the style of Kid Creole or Talking Heads: Jeano Elong & Not OK Jazz play alternative Afro, makossa with a twang, high life with a twist, trippy and tropical, funky and political.

Jeano Elong, singer and bassist, comes from Cameroon. He sings in Bakaka, a Bantu language from his village, Eboné. He came to Hamburg in 2013 as one of the so-called ‘Lampedusa refugees’ who had to flee the civil war in Libya. In Hamburg, he became part of the agitprop collective Schwabinggrad Ballett & Arrivati, centered around the producer and musician Ted Gaier (Goldene Zitronen). In November, Jeano Elong released Jâbeâ, his debut album. His songs have their roots in Cameroonian or African genres such as makossa, bikutsi or highlife, but you can tell that they were played in Altona and St. Pauli. His band Not OK Jazz includes musicians from Ghana, Burkina Faso, Gambia and Germany.
