As is well known, Austrians can get used to almost anything, unless you take away their fascism. After thirty years of work in the pre-political space, Herbert Kickl and his right-wing extremist FPÖ were now on the verge of seizing power - coalition negotiations with the conservative/neoliberal ÖVP currently seem to have failed.

So things remain exciting in the Alpine hell. As an alternative to further exploratory talks between the SPÖ, NEOS and ÖVP, new elections could now be threatened, in which the self-proclaimed "People's Chancellor" would win well over 30% of the vote. Herbert Kickl is calling for all democratic institutions to be subordinated to his model of a "Third Republic" - an authoritarian, anti-democratic, fascist, radical capitalist design - so what can be done about the Austrian affection for the authoritarian leader?!

A creative, radical civil society with resistant ideas, both at home and abroad, is now on the move to slow down the unstoppable fall of beautiful Austria.

So this evening they are asking themselves together: Is fascism in Austria's DNA? How did it get to this point? What does all this have to do with neoliberalism, surveillance capitalism and social inequality? How are the protest movements organized in neighboring countries like Hungary? How long until Germany is on the same precipice as Austria? How can they influence media discussions from abroad? And are there already concrete areas of action and ideas for actions that they want to discuss locally?

ALERTA!! Always together. Never alone.

Organized by: Lisa Polster (filmmaker, Vienna/Berlin), Natalie Assmann, (artist and director, Vienna/Berlin), Konstantin Raftl (DO!Berlin, Vienna/Berlin), Thomas Köck (playwright and author, Vienna/Berlin)
