German Federal Press Conference
Where journalists rule the roost
Senior representatives of the world of politics, business and culture take questions from the press here in close proximity to the German Bundestag. The German government press conference takes place here every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, where government spokespersons from the 14 German ministries have to submit themselves to the probing questions of the press. Over 900 German journalists belong to the Bundespressekonferenz e.V. (Federal Press Conference Association), which was founded in 1949. The association's independence from the government makes it very special, because press conferences with government representatives are not organised by the journalists themselves in any other country.
