Anniversary exhibition
Before the Department of Culture invites the artists, galleries, and workshops active in the district to its 11th annual open house on June 14, 2026, an anniversary exhibition at the Pyramide Exhibition Center will celebrate the past 10 years. Forty artists from the last decade have agreed to participate, each contributing a small selection of their work.
Whether painting, printmaking, sculpture, pottery, photography, textiles, illustrations, installations, or video art – the diversity of art genres will impress. The opening on Saturday, January 31, 2026, at 6 p.m. will feature musical accompaniment by the band "Tante Anne" from the ORWOhaus. This unusual, musicians-run rehearsal space in Marzahn has also frequently opened its doors to "ART: open" in recent years.
"ART: open" replaced the previously annual district-wide cultural weekend "kultour à la carte" in June 2016; one of the aims was to reflect the fact that many new artists had settled in the district. Since then, the success story of "ART: open" has continued. Even the weather has always cooperated, and no effort was spared during the pandemic years to bring audiences and artists together for mutual benefit and enjoyment.
This is the first time the participants have found the time and space to appear together, get to know each other, and engage in conversation. The idea for the exhibition came from Jan Frontzek, head of the cultural affairs department for Marzahn-Hellersdorf, who will also give the opening remarks. The exhibition is open to the public free of charge from Monday to Friday between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m.
On Saturday, March 7, 2026, at 6 p.m., the German-Czech Naches Trio will perform a Klezmer concert entitled "Soundscapes" in the exhibition space. The public is cordially invited.
