Summer is coming to Berlin. June shows you that you can immerse yourself in a new festival almost every day in the capital. All over the city, people are celebrating, dancing, marvelling and discovering – from major anniversaries such as the 200th anniversary of Museum Island, to the Kreuzbergfest and the Book Festival at Bebelplatz, right through to musical highlights such as the Fête de la Musique.
Don't miss the big neighbourhood festival to mark the launch of the new MuseumsMeileMitte on 13 June. The participating venues – Futurium, Hamburger Bahnhof, the Museum of the History of Medicine and the Museum of Natural History – will open at 12 noon with free admission and invite you to join guided walks where you can learn more about the connections between the individual venues – and, of course, how the fields of science, art, history and the future influence one another.
Tip 1: Take a stand at the 2026 Berlin CSD
With the“HALTUNG IST HOT” (Taking a stand is hot) campaign, Berliner CSD e. V. is kicking off the new Pride season, sending a powerful message in support of democracy, diversity and queer visibility. With creative slogans such as “Your voice suits you”, “Green Flags go and vote” or “Maus, apolitical was yesterday”, the campaign combines queer culture with political engagement, calling on young people in particular to use their vote in the House of Representatives election.
Tip: In 2026, Berlin CSD will expand for the first time into a full Pride weekend. As early as Friday evening, the Brandenburg Gate will be transformed into a huge stage for music, art and political statements, before the traditional parade winds its way through the city on Saturday. Look forward to a weekend full of empowerment, solidarity and exuberant summer vibes – right in the heart of Berlin, the rainbow capital.
When: 24 & 25 July 2026

Tip 2: Celebrate 200 years of Berlin’s Museum Island at the Inselfest
Museum Island, the heart of Berlin and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is turning 200! And you’re all warmly invited. For the Island Festival , the Kolonnadenhof will be transformed into a huge open-air stage hosting top-class performances: including the Komische Oper and the dance orchestra of the Berliner Ensemble. The Volksbühne will bring African Voices and Bulgarian Voices Berlin to the stage, and the Deutsches Theater will present the dance performance METAMORPHOSE and the musical play GROSSE GEWINNE SCHWERE VERLUSTE.
Further highlights include concerts by Patrice ( Ancient Spirit) on Friday at 8 pm and Jazzanova on Saturday at 5.45 pm. And the Berlin sound collective SWIM GOOD will bring island vibes to the James-Simon-Galerie, which will be transformed into a tropical cultural event space for the occasion. Tip 3: FREIRAUM KUNST: Bellevue Palace becomes a stage for contemporary art
Before Bellevue Palace undergoes several years of renovation, the Federal President’s official residence will be transformed into an extraordinary art venue for two weeks. The Academy of Arts is filling the cleared-out rooms with works by renowned artists such as Katharina Grosse, Wolfgang Tillmans, Monica Bonvicini and Gregor Schneider.
Particularly exciting: not only the artworks themselves, but also the open palace will form part of the exhibition. A rare glimpse behind the scenes of one of Berlin’s most significant buildings.
The exhibition is accompanied by a programme of discussions organised by the “Büro der öffentlichen Sache”, which sees art as a space for social exchange.
When: 13–28 June 2026, Monday to Friday 11am–7pm, Saturday & Sunday 10am–7pm; free admission with a time-slot ticket (bookable from 18 May 2026 at adk.de)

Tip 4: Experience open-air concerts at the Fête de la Musique
At the Fête de la Musique, music fills every corner of Berlin. This huge, free open-air music festival marking the start of summer on 21 June offers a surprising array of concerts, both big and small, as diverse as Berlin itself. You’ll hear music in parks, on the streets, in courtyards and on rooftops. Just go with the flow, discover new favourite bands and explore the city’s different neighbourhoods at the same time.
This year’s partner district for the Fête de la Musique is Reinickendorf. Did you know that German rapper Sido grew up here in the large housing estate of Berlin’s Märkisches Viertel? So, why not pop over to the green north of Berlin for the Fête – and combine the musical start to summer with a dip in Lake Tegel.
From 2 pm to 10 pm, the concerts take place in the open air; afterwards, the programme for the “Fête de la Nuit” moves indoors to participating venues such as bars, pubs or clubs.
When: 21 June

On the last weekend in June, the historic Bebelplatz is transformed into a gigantic open-air bookshop. Even Chancellor Friedrich Merz himself has announced he will take part in a panel discussion on Sunday, 21 June at the Federal Chancellery. The talks at the Federal Press Office under the motto “That’s what Germany can do”, during which ministers will also answer questions from the public, are sure to be fascinating.
This year’s workshops focus on the theme of “Knowledge and Opinion”. And on Saturday, Government Spokesperson Stefan Kornelius is hosting a press conference for children and young people.

Between 4 pm and midnight, you can carry out exciting experiments at over 60 venues, take part in spectacular live demonstrations and gain fascinating insights into current research.

From passenger jets to fighter planes, from rescue helicopters to transport aircraft – at the ILA, you’ll experience the summer’s largest open-air aviation museum. And with selected aircraft, you can even climb into the cockpit.

Tip 10: Hear new sounds at Berlin Jazz Week
“Collective improv(e)ment” is this year’s theme for Berlin Jazz Week. This naturally refers to the music on the one hand, but on the other hand it also takes a look behind the scenes and encourages us to think together about how we can collectively improve conditions for the jazz scene in Berlin. So look forward to plenty of great music, exciting improvisations and interesting discussions.
The festival kicks off on Friday evening at Club Gretchen in Kreuzberg with various live concerts and talks. Entry is free. After that, the festival spreads out across the whole city. So, keep your ears open, because from the opening notes right through to the encore, you’ll be hearing new sounds around the city.

Tip 11: Join the ADFC’s big cycle rally
On 7 June, you’d be better off leaving the car at home. That’s because thousands of cyclists from all corners of the city will be gathering at the Großer Stern from 2 pm for the ADFC rally . You can set off from numerous points across Berlin and Brandenburg. This year there are around 20 routes in total, which gradually converge – and together send a powerful message in support of Berlin’s transport revolution. So, come and whizz along the motorway and through otherwise congested traffic tunnels. Car-free cycling is so much fun! There are shorter routes for families with children. From the finish line, the Großer Stern in the Tiergarten, it’s not far to the Environment Festival at the Brandenburg Gate, where you can refuel and chat some more.
