24 Apr 2026–31 Dec 2027: Intermezzo. Revisiting Helmut Newton
As part of the redesign of its former permanent exhibition, the Helmut Newton Foundation presents a cinematic exhibition space, historic exhibition posters, and an extensive selection of fashion and lifestyle magazines. The exhibition explores the evolution of fashion photography and changing social roles from the late 1950s to the 21st century, highlighting how social change has shaped visual culture.
Highlights: 100 Newton exhibition posters presented in a new setting, posters from various solo exhibitions by Alice Springs, a 16-metre-long display case featuring fashion and lifestyle magazines, and magazine editorials by Alice Springs.
17 Apr 2026–4 Oct 2026: New Woman, New Vision – The Women Photographers of the Bauhaus
This exhibition is dedicated to the women photographers of the Bauhaus and features around 300 works from the collection of the Bauhaus Archive / Museum of Design, Berlin. Many of the images are well-known, but the artists behind them have received far less attention. For the first time, the exhibition offers a comprehensive tribute to these women and their photographic work.
5 Jun 2026–15 Nov 2026: Rooms / Stages
The special exhibition “Rooms / Stages” at the Museum of Photography builds on the exhibition project “Body Performance” and focuses on the significance of space in photography. While people and actions are often at the centre of photographic works, this exhibition examines space as the main subject and demonstrates how photographers deliberately place it at the heart of their work.
5 Jun 2026–15 Nov 2026: Helmut Newton’s One-off Album
Another section of the exhibition presents an extraordinary album created by Helmut Newton together with collector Gert Elfering in 1999. This unique work, now part of the Nicola Erni Collection, will be shown in Berlin for the first time outside Switzerland. Visitors can discover 112 original black-and-white and colour prints selected by Newton and Elfering, mounted on board and accompanied by handwritten titles or personal notes.
4 Dec 2026–18 Apr 2027: Photography Matters
This exhibition explores the material history of photography from its beginnings to the present day, showing how different materials and technological developments shape our perception of images. Through photographs on glass, paper, and digital media, it examines the transformation of the medium as well as questions of technology, memory, and knowledge culture. It also investigates how digital processes and artificial intelligence are changing the nature of photography.
