Guitar chords ring out from backyards, electronic basslines reverberate through the streets, and the Haus der Kulturen der Welt celebrates West African musical culture with a grand parade through the Tiergarten. Whether you’re drifting through Berlin at the Fête de la Musique, discovering art, culture and music in backyards at 48 Stunden Neukölln, or dancing your way down Straße des 17. Juni at Rave The Planet: here are our 11 tips for your festival summer.
Tip 1: Celebrate the start of the festival season with the Fête de la Musique
On the longest day of the year , Berlin becomes a giant open-air stage: at the Fête de la Musique, you’ll hear music in parks, on squares, outside cafés and bars, from rooftops and all across the city. In total, there are over 300 participating stages and venues, and every neighbourhood is involved.
This year’s partner district is Reinickendorf, making it the perfect opportunity to get to know the musical side of Berlin’s green north after a summer’s day at Lake Tegel. Entry is free. Go with the flow, discover new favourite bands and kick off your festival summer on a musical note.

Tip 2: Immerse yourself in the Sonic Pluriverse Festival
At the Haus der Kulturen der Welt, the Sonic Pluriverse Festival 2026 will introduce you to the Moroccan Gnawa tradition and the various musical genres that have their roots there. Through concerts, DJ sets, as well as workshops and panels, connections between West African, Mediterranean and Afro-diasporic influences will be explored and explained.
The Gnawa parade from Tiergarten to the HKW to kick off the festival will be particularly impressive. Immerse yourself in a polyphonic universe of sound and learn more about the Gnawa tradition, which continues in various musical genres and styles.

Tip 3: Experience the new festival format TFELD 2026
TFELD brings a new festival format to Tempelhofer Feld: under the motto “This is Berlin”, you can expect a mix of hip-hop, electronic music and Berlin subculture, right in the heart of one of the city’s most iconic open spaces. Perfect for anyone who loves that authentic festival vibe but doesn’t want to leave Berlin. Pack your sunglasses, water and plenty of stamina.

Tip 4: Discover the Hamburger Bahnhof during Open House
For three days, the Hamburger Bahnhof is opening its doors and inviting you to experience the National Gallery of Contemporary Art in a new light. Amidst art, architecture and a festival atmosphere, you’ll get a special insight into one of Berlin’s most important venues for contemporary art.
The highlight of the weekend is the opening of “Tausendmal Berlin”, the new exhibition marking the museum’s 30th anniversary. In addition, the new season of the Berlin Beats DJ series ‘ ’ kicks off from 12 June to 27 August in the museum garden, with Kikelomo opening the series this year. Come along, wander through the rooms and let yourself be surprised.

Tip 5: Check out the Pop-Kultur Festival 2026
The Pop-Kultur Festival is expanding in 2026 to seven days and multiple venues: look forward to an exciting mix of concerts, DJ sets, talks, workshops and new “Commissioned Works” – compositions commissioned especially for the festival.
By the way, the festival isn’t just about listening, but also about having a say and coming together. From catchy pop and new talent from Berlin to experimental compositions, you can discover it all here – and discuss together how pop culture, music and society influence and shape one another . Tickets for the many concerts start at 10 euros. So, join in and secure your place in Berlin’s pop cosmos.

Tip 6: Enjoy the festival summer at the Citadel Music Festival
Spandau Citadel will serve as a stunning open-air venue throughout the summer. Within its historic walls, you’ll experience international artists from the worlds of rock, pop, indie, soul and electronic music, including legends such as the Pixies, The B52s and Morrissey. Trailerpark is already sold out. So it’s best to get a ticket now for your favourite act at the Berlin Summer Open Air at the Citadel.
Tip: After selected concert evenings, you can round off the summer night with an after-show party at the Zita Club.

Tip 7: Party at Lollapalooza
You can catchPitbull, Lewis Capaldi, Lorde, Ayliva, the Berliner Kneipenchor and many more at this year’s Lollapalooza Berlin. A total of around 60 bands, singers and DJ acts will be performing in 2026.
As well as music, you can look forward to themed areas focusing on a healthy lifestyle, fun and fashion, plus a wide-ranging family programme, including the Kidzapalooza zone with plenty of tents, workshops and games. Look forward to a festival atmosphere right in the heart of Berlin, complete with food trucks. So you don’t need to bring anything except your festival spirit and a good mood!

Tip 8: Wander through 48 Hours Neukölln
For a whole weekend, Neukölln becomes an open stage for art, culture and creative experimentation. On streets and squares, in backyards, parks and numerous indoor venues, you can discover for free what’s currently driving Berlin’s creative scene.
Since its inception in 1999, 48 Hours Neukölln has developed into one of the city’s largest independent art festivals. Explore the neighbourhood, discover unusual places and experience a diverse programme of concerts, performances and exhibitions. Under this year’s theme OUT/SIDE/IN, the festival explores boundaries and belonging. Let yourself be surprised!

Tip 9: Dance with Dr Motte at Rave The Planet
Under the motto“Imagine Love”, Rave The Planet will once again be winding its way through Berlin in 2026, continuing the tradition of the legendary Love Parade (see picture). More than 200 floats and music trucks are expected, creating a festival atmosphere with a wide variety of electronic dance music. Techno pioneer Dr Motte, the parade’s initiator, will of course be there too.
Look forward to a parade that brings generations together and dance together for peace, solidarity and the preservation of electronic music culture along Straße des 17. Juni. Bring water, sun cream and comfortable shoes.
Tip: The official after-party kicks off at 11 pm in the Columbiahalle. DJ Rush, Dr Motte, Nakadia, Teenage Mutant and Mommahawk will be behind the decks for you.

Tip 10: Join the Zug der Liebe
For more than ten years, the Zug der Liebe has been setting an example for social engagement. With glitter, bass and high spirits, the parade raises the profile of social clubs and organisations. A great combination. Dance through the streets to electronic music whilst learning more about social initiatives in Berlin. It kicks off at 1 pm; the route is yet to be announced. The after-party is currently scheduled to take place at Ritter Butzke.

Tip 11: Listen to sounds from all over the world at the "Durchlüften" event at the Humboldt Forum
The Schlüterhof at the Humboldt Forum will once again become a free open-air stage in 2026. At “Durchlüften”, you can experience musicians and DJs from all over the world over four summer weekends. The spectrum ranges from Mauritanian desert blues to Afro-Colombian bass music and Anatolian electronica. Every evening, the programme features two concerts and a DJ set.
Entry is free. So, enjoy the festival atmosphere against a historic backdrop and dance under the open sky through warm summer nights.
