In autumn, you can easily integrate sustainability into your everyday life with ease. Delicious seasonal produce lands on the table during harvest time. Nature puts on its brightest colours to conjure up a beautiful backdrop for your bike tours and walks. And if the weather doesn't play ball, there are interesting workshops, theatre, cinema and other activities on offer.
Tip 1: Take a look into the future with the #2030 film series

On the first Friday of every month, the #2030 film series at the delphi LUX cinema shows a different film that addresses topics from the UN Sustainable Development Goals. The films are accompanied by a subsequent audience discussion with experts.
The programme includes the animated film "Fritzi & Sophie", which deals with the topic of flight in cartoon form, "Copa 71", a documentary about the first official women's football World Cup in history and "Archive of the Future", an insight into the Natural History Museum in Vienna.
When: 3 October, 29 October and 7 November, among others

Tip 2: Be fascinated by science during Science Week

Berlin Science Week is a must for anyone interested in ecological and social sustainability . Here, too, the future is once again a central theme this year, with many events centred around it. Those who can really judge it will have their say: Scientists.
significantly, the overarching motto of this year's Science Week is "BEYOND NOW". The central event hubs this year are located at the CAMPUS in the Museum für Naturkunde Berlin and the FORUM at Holzmarkt 25, and there are also numerous events throughout the city, often free of charge.
When: 1 to 10 November
Where: Various locations in Berlin
Tip 3: Discover innovative companies at the House of Food

As part of Berlin Food Week, you can get to know interesting food start-ups and try innovative products with a focus on sustainability and from small manufacturers at the House of Food in the Bikini Berlin concept mall. There are virtually no limits to your imagination - from plant-based products and regional ingredients to wacky visions, the colourful mix of 40 exhibitors has everything to offer. Perhaps you'll be the first to see the next big sustainability trend here.

Where: Bikini Berlin, Budapester Straße 38-50, Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf
Tip 4: Visit the carnival for the future

Berlin is known for its Carnival of Cultures, which takes place every year in May. But have you heard of the Carnival for the Future? It also consists of a colourful street parade with people who are committed to environmental issues and a fairer future . The main focus is on a sense of unity and community as a driving force for change. In the run-up to the carnival, imaginative props for the parade are created from recycled materials.
When: 4 October
Where: Starting point Rathaus Neukölln, Karl-Marx-Straße 83
Tip 5: Process climate change with a pinch of humour

The Theatre of Knowledge at Heimathafen Neukölln transports you to a world in which the earth has already warmed by two degrees. What sounds like a gloomy dystopia becomes a gripping reality on stage: flight, climate terrorism, crumbling political systems.
In this rousing performance, you take on the role of international politicians at the "Last Conference" - a final, desperate climate conference. While the world seems to be coming to an end outside, you work together to find solutions.
When: 11 to 18 October
Where: Heimathafen Neukölln, Karl-Marx-Straße 141, Neukölln
Tip 6: Take autumn walks

If there is no storm outside and autumn is showing its golden, sunny side, an autumn walk is the best idea. You can't help but smell the scent of autumn just thinking about it. We have put together the most beautiful routes for a successful walk for you in our blog article.
Tip 7: Do handicrafts, crafts and take part in workshops

In the cooler months of the year, you can finally dedicate yourself to DIY projects again. Workshops are held regularly at NochMall and Haus der Statistik. Whether upcycling, repairing or other exciting ideas, the first Christmas presents can already be created while crafting and working . How about a reusable Advent calendar, for example?
Workshops on digital sustainability are also very popular at the moment. Let yourself be inspired:
- Workshop on"Human Centered Design" at the Futurium, 30 October 2025
- Workshop on"Digital sustainability: upcycling laptops with open source" at Lettrétage, 23 October 2025
Tip 8: Go on a sustainable shopping spree

As an Advent calendar needs to be filled and it's a good idea to start looking for your first Christmas presents, go on a shopping spree now. This way, you'll be buying meaningful gifts and not last-minute rubbish. We have put together some recommendations for sustainable shopping here.
Flea markets also continue to take place in autumn, you just need to wrap up a little warmer. For example, the Friendly Flea Market at Gleisdreieck or the flea market at Tuchollaplatz. A great tip for planning your sustainable shopping tour is the Fair City Map from the Aktionsbündnis Fairer Handel Berlin.
Tip 9: Take a trip to the Ökowerk

The Ökowerk environmental education centre between Teufelssee and Teufelsberg is always worth a visit. It is ideal for a bike tour. In autumn, the Grunewald forest enchants you with its bright colours. From 20 October, there will also be an environmental education holiday programme for children, which you can register your children for.

Tip 10: Go on a bat tour at Fort Hahneberg

Fort Hahneberg, a historic fortress in Spandau, provides a habitat for bats. Get in the mood for Halloween and find out more about how and where the little vampires feel at home in the old walls. The tour starts at dusk and, with a bit of luck, you may be able to observe the animals.
By the way: There are also special Halloween tours for children and young people at Fort Hahneberg in October.
When: 17 October
Where: Fort Hahneberg, Hahnebergweg 50, Spandau
Tip 11: Make the most of the harvest season

The best way to eat sustainably is with local and seasonal produce. This reduces transport distances and your money goes to local farmers. In autumn, it's time to hit the weekly markets or - if the weather doesn't play ball - the beautiful market halls of Berlin. Why not buy a bright orange pumpkin or juicy chestnuts at the Schöneberg Pumpkin Festival or visit the Harvest Festival at the Hahneberg Nature Conservation Centre? And if you don't like cooking yourself, visit the many Berlin restaurants that emphasise seasonal produce.
