10 September 2026–17 January 2027: Kreuzberg: Art and Migration since 1960

Few places reflected the social and cultural upheavals of West Germany in the 1960s and 1970s as clearly as Berlin-Kreuzberg. Recruitment agreements with countries such as Italy, Greece and Turkey, together with increasing labour migration, made changes visible at a local level that would shape the reality of life in West Germany. In autumn 2026, the group exhibition Kreuzberg: Art and Migration since 1960 explores the diverse and previously underappreciated cultural production surrounding labour migration and shows how artists in Kreuzberg engaged with the tensions and questions of their time.

Through his work, Christoph Schlingensief took an uncompromising look at the challenges of contemporary life. In autumn 2026, the Gropius Bau dedicates the exhibition Es ist nicht mehr mein Problem, macht eure Scheiße alleine to his visionary body of work, exploring everything from headline-making political interventions and radical theatrical productions to the merging of performance and visual art.
