If you love to dance, all you have to do on a warm summer evening in Berlin is follow the music. From spontaneous raves and lively salsa nights to open-air tango classes, there's something for every style and skill level. Dance beneath the historic colonnades of Museum Island, learn the tarantella on Tempelhofer Feld, or twirl by the Spree at the beach bar in Monbijoupark. Here are 11 of Berlin's most beautiful places to dance under the open sky.

As colourful fairy lights begin to twinkle after sunset, the beach bar in Monbijoupark becomes one of Berlin's most enchanting places to dance. Set right on the banks of the River Spree with views of the Bode Museum, it's the perfect spot to dance the night away. Almost every evening features a different style, from salsa, swing and bachata to ballroom, disco fox and tango. Add a warm summer night and a riverside setting, and you'll feel as though you've escaped on holiday without ever leaving the city.

Good to know: Dance evenings are cancelled in bad weather or when temperatures fall below 18°C.

Dance with one of Berlin's most iconic backdrops at the open-air milongas in front of the German Bundestag. Several times a week, tango enthusiasts gather on the riverside promenade outside the Paul-Löbe-Haus, overlooking the River Spree, to dance beneath the open sky. Whether you'd like to join in or simply enjoy the unique atmosphere, everyone is welcome. Just be sure to check the weather forecast before you go, as events may be cancelled at short notice if it rains.

Good to know: The organisers and DJs welcome donations.

NEOLONGA is one of Berlin's most beautiful summer dance gatherings. On the spacious terrace on the north side of the Neue Nationalgalerie, you can dance beneath the open sky with the museum's iconic architecture as your backdrop. The music continues well into the evening, drawing both tango enthusiasts and curious spectators to enjoy a magical summer night. Thursdays feature electronic, neo and non-tango music, while Mondays are dedicated to the more traditional Sentidos Open Air Milonga if you prefer a classic tango experience.

Good to know: Both events are donation-based and take place only in good weather.

Tip 4: Dancing at the Kolonnaden Bar on Museum Island

As the setting sun bathes the River Spree in golden light, the Kolonnaden Bar on Museum Island transforms into one of Berlin's most atmospheric open-air dance floors. Every Thursday, a different DJ spins everything from disco classics to laid-back beats, drawing crowds to the dance floor between the historic colonnades. Grab a drink, take in the views of the Spree and dance your way through a warm summer evening.

Good to know: The Colonnade Bar is celebrating Museum Island’s 200th anniversary with a free summer party. So it’s definitely worth popping by (Wednesday to Thursday 4 pm – 10 pm, Friday, Saturday & Sunday 12 noon – 10 pm).

Tip 5: La Paranza on Tempelhofer Feld – pure joie de vivre

A taste of southern Italian lifestyle right in the heart of Berlin: every Thursday, music and dance enthusiasts gather at the Paranza del Tempelhofer Feld to dance the tarantella together. This open get-together is inspired by the Neapolitan tradition of the ‘paranza’ – a group that spontaneously invites people to celebrate together through music, dance and good company. Whether you want to learn the basics or simply tap your feet to the rousing rhythms, everyone is welcome. Feel free to bring something for a picnic and let the warm atmosphere sweep you away.

Good to know: As well as the Paranza, the Tarantella Workshop also organises many other dance events in Berlin, such as:

Tip 6: Enjoy the Summer of Dance in Friedrichshain

Every Sunday throughout June, July and August, Friedrichshain turns into an open-air dance school. The team from Swing Patrol Berlin offers free Lindy Hop, Charleston and Jitterbug classes for beginners and experienced dancers alike. You can join at any time, with or without a dance partner, and you'll soon meet plenty of fellow swing enthusiasts. Classes take place beneath the trees beside the open-air cinema, creating the perfect setting for dancing on a summer afternoon.

Tip 7: Join an Open-air milonga in the rose garden

Fancy dancing tango surrounded by fragrant roses? In Berlin, you can do just that at not one, but two beautiful open-air milongas.

  • At Bürgerpark Pankow, the Panke-Tango Berlin club hosts an Argentine milonga in the Rose Garden once a month on Sundays from 3.30 pm. The afternoon begins with an introductory class, followed by social dancing into the evening to a mix of traditional, neo and non-tango music.
  • Every Saturday from 5 pm to 10 pm, DJ Markus Shamous spins traditional tango music in the Rose Garden opposite Schwedter Straße in Prenzlauer Berg. This long-running open-air milonga has become a favourite among Berlin's tango community.

Folk dancing has been a cherished tradition at Mauerpark for almost 20 years. Every week, musicians and dance enthusiasts gather on the Folkswiese to play live music and invite everyone to join in. Experienced instructors guide circle, line, alley and partner dances, so no previous experience is needed. Just bring your curiosity, a good mood and comfortable shoes, and discover traditional dances from cultures around the world.

Good to know: Folk dancing in Mauerpark is free to join.

Tip 9: Learn salsa, bachata or forró at the Soda Club

Fancy some sizzling rhythms and a taste of Mediterranean flair? On summer evenings, the courtyard of the Kulturbrauerei transforms into a beach bar with a spacious open-air dance floor, where the Soda Social Club hosts its popular Vida Loca nights. The evening begins with a one-hour beginner-friendly dance class, where you can try salsa, bachata, kizomba, mambo or zouk. Afterwards, DJs take over several dance floors, keeping the party going with Afro and Latin beats until late into the night.

Good to know: The €8 entry fee includes a €3 drinks voucher.

In summer, Potsdamer Platz transforms into one of Berlin's biggest open-air dance floors. The free “Tanz mit!” festival, features a lively programme of workshops, performances and drop-in sessions where everyone is welcome to join in. From classic ballroom dancing to urban and international styles, it's a great opportunity to discover something new, whether you're a complete beginner or an experienced dancer.

When: 26 June to 11 July 2026, Monday to Friday: 4 pm – 10 pm, Saturday & Sunday: 1 pm – 10 pm

Tip 11: Dance Through History at Clärchens Ballhaus

At Clärchens Ballhaus, people have been dancing for more than a century, and you can still feel that unique atmosphere today. Several times a week, the venue's beautiful historic Spiegelsaal hosts open dance classes where you can try swing, salsa or tango. No previous experience or dance partner is needed. Once the class is over, the dance floor stays open, so you can keep dancing until midnight.

Good to know: Course prices range from 8 euros for salsa to 20 euros (tango course plus milonga). You don’t need to book in advance. Just pop in!
