Exhibition Family Matters at the Humboldt Forum Berlin

Until 12 July 2026, the ground floor of the Humboldt Forum Berlin hosts the exhibition Family Matters, which explores the many ways in which family and kinship are understood and lived around the world. All institutions involved in the Humboldt Forum collaborate on this project, engaging with family relationships in the past, present, and future. Whether through exhibitions, performances, discussions, workshops or guided tours – you’ll find creative interventions on the topic of Beziehungsweise Familie throughout the Humboldt Forum.

BERLIN GLOBAL exhibition at the Humboldt Forum

The Berlin exhibition BERLIN GLOBAL spans 4,000 square metres and uses immersive installations and atmospheric staging to explore Berlin’s complex connections with the world. Themes such as revolution, freedom, boundaries, pleasure, war, fashion, and interconnection are brought to life in vividly designed thematic spaces.

Ethnological Collections and Asian Art at the Humboldt Forum Berlin

With the Humboldt Forum day ticket, you can access the collections of the Ethnological Museum and the Museum of Asian Art on the 2nd and 3rd floors. Around 20,000 objects are on display – from monumental boats from Oceania and the Benin bronzes to pre-Columbian gold and precious Buddha statues. Ancient masterpieces and contemporary art offer diverse perspectives on global cultures.

Knoblauchhaus Museum

At the Knoblauchhaus Museum in the Nikolaiviertel, the focus is on the bourgeois nuclear family. The exhibition highlights this family model, and the former residence of a merchant family offers fascinating insights into everyday family life 200 years ago. The migration story of the Knoblauch family, who fled Hungary, is contrasted with personal accounts from people who work in the museum today.
