The exhibition explores themes such as urban development through growth and destruction, tolerance and persecution, power and participation. Numerous original objects and artefacts offer a glimpse into times gone by.

Berlin’s oldest surviving church building is now home to the Berlin Museum Nikolaikirche. The original structure of the Nikolaikirche also marks the founding of Berlin around the year 1230.

Exhibition: Everyday Life in Biedermeier Berlin – Humboldt, Schinkel & the Knoblauch family

This permanent exhibition lets you explore the lifestyle and interior culture of a bygone era. The “Raphael Cabinet” has been faithfully reconstructed and features works inspired by the famous artist. In the “Berlin Salon” exhibition area, you’ll meet friends of the Knoblauch family – including well-known figures such as Karl Friedrich Schinkel and Wilhelm and Alexander von Humboldt.
