At the end of the year, we are looking forward to the coming year and would like to share with you what we are looking forward to in 2025. There are a whole host of big highlights are waiting for us in Berlin next year, but also the smaller personal events that make us happy,
We have compiled our personal favourites from the editorial team of the visitBerlin blog for you here.
Discover new trends at Berlin Fashion Week
Milolo: Twice a year, Berlin becomes an international fashion metropolis when Berlin Fashion Week (BFW) transforms the city into a hotspot for creativity and new talent. Since 2007, it has been a stage for trends, unconventional ideas and exciting visions from all over the world.
What makes BFW so special? It lives and breathes the Berlin spirit: raw, inspiring and always a little different. Young designers and up-and-coming labels are in the spotlight here - often influenced by Berlin's vibrant music, club and cultural scene. The city provides space for the new and unexpected, where creativity knows no bounds. At the same time, BFW is a pioneer for important topics: sustainability, diversity and inclusion play a central role. Instead of just talking about fashion, BFW shows what responsible fashion of the future can look like. Whether at fashion fairs, fashion shows or inspiring events - here you have the chance to discover new perspectives and looks that not only look good, but also make a statement.

See two Expressionism exhibitions at once

The international avant-garde of Expressionism is represented in both exhibitions, and I am looking forward to seeing names such as Wassily Kandinsky, Franz Marc, Piet Mondrian, El Lissitzky and many more.

Watching films at the Berlinale
Kristin: I'm particularly looking forward to the Berlinale in grey February, when the film world will once again be a guest in Berlin and make the city shine. The first films have already been announced under the new direction of Tricia Tuttle, who is sure to bring fresh impetus to the festival.
And the incomparable Tilda Swinton will receive the Honorary Golden Bear. She has been a guest at the Berlinale for years with great films and in 2009 as jury president.
As every year, I will report daily from the Berlinale in the Blog, about the stars, the films and a look behind the scenes of the festival.

Skate and compete in the Berlin half marathon

On 6 April, the inline skaters start with the 21 kilometres through Berlin's city centre and the runners follow immediately afterwards, who will also be cheered on by thousands of Berliners on their sightseeing tour. And to help you train, we have put together the 11 most beautiful routes .

Experience Joshua Bell live
Kristin: There are so many highlights for classical music fans in Berlin, but this will undoubtedly be a very special evening. The violin superstar is coming to Berlin. Violinist Joshua Bell will be playing a top-class programme together with the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin with pieces by Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy, Florence Price and Ludwig van Beethoven. He will also be on the podium and conduct the DSO for the first time.

Be there for the opening of the PETRI BERLIN
Dagmar: Everyone knows the major sights and landmarks of Berlin - but where are the first beginnings of the German capital? The answer: in the heart of Berlin, under Petriplatz on Fischerinsel. Here, 800 years of history have been unearthed: a medieval Latin school, an old cemetery, a church. And in recent years, the PETRI Berlin, the large House of Archaeology, which will not only present the excavations in the ground from spring 2025, but will also become the workplace and "showroom" of Berlin's archaeologists, has been built directly above this bygone world. Everyone is invited to experience exciting finds and the basics of archaeological work up close.
Take part in the environmental festival at the Brandenburg Gate
Maria: The Straße des 17. Juni between the Brandenburg Gate and the Victory Column has been the backdrop for many major events. Every New Year's Eve, hundreds of people admire the unforgettable fireworks display here, famous musicians perform on the Day of German Unity and football fans stroll along a spectacular fan mile for UEFA EURO 2024.
My personal annual highlight, however, is the Environmental Festival at the Brandenburg Gate, because it shows the whole world how diverse sustainability is in Berlin. Numerous stands, workshops and activities are dedicated to topics such as climate protection, resource conservation and renewable energies. You can sample regional delicacies, shop for sustainable products and talk directly to environmental initiatives.

Celebrate the summer at the Fête de la Musique
Milolo: When summer officially begins on 21 June, Berlin sets the pace: The Fête de la Musique transforms the city into one big open-air stage. From parks to streets to hidden corners - music will be playing everywhere for you to enjoy for free. Whether well-known bands, street artists or spontaneous jam sessions - every voice and every sound has its place here.
From 4 pm to 10 pm, music will be playing in Berlin's streets and squares, and from 10 pm it continues in clubs, bars and cafés. Whether it's Gretchen, Yaam or smaller venues like Junction Bar - the Fête de la Nuit ensures that the music never stops.
Whether you're strolling through the streets, enjoying spontaneous concerts or dancing the night away, the Fête de la Musique is a day that celebrates Berlin's love of music and summer. So, get out there - and enjoy the soundtrack to the start of summer!

Wander through the underworlds at night
Catrin: The Long Night of the Underworlds takes place every two years. It's happening again in 2025. All the locations that we can otherwise only visit as part of a guided tour will be open. Along the U8, we can visit the Flak Tower, the AEG Tunnel, the Fichtebunker, the Operations Bunker and the Archaeological Window as well as numerous other locations. Immerse yourself in the history of Berlin and experience exciting things - that's what's planned for this Saturday.

Where: along the U8
Experience great concert highlights
Cleo: Linkin Park, Billie Eilish, Slipknot, Sex Pistols, Patti Smith, Robbie Williams, Iron Maiden & Cro. And that's just a handful of the great musicians coming to Berlin next year. Many fans should be particularly excited about the comeback of Linkin Park, which was announced in September 2024. In June 2025, the band will perform at the Olympia Stadium with new singer Emily Armstrong. The US nu-metal band Slipknot can undoubtedly be expected to put on a unique show.
The innovative sound of Billie Eilish, who will be performing at the Uber Arena in May, is also unique. And punk legends such as Patti Smith and the Sex Pistols are also making their way to Berlin to celebrate with their fans.

Celebrating 200 years of Museum Island
Kristin: Museum Island is turning 200 and is celebrating in style. Three major exhibitions and numerous events will celebrate the island and its magnificent museums for five years. "Foundation stone of antiquity. Berlin's first museum" illuminates the history of the Altes Museum. "Myths in stone. Göbeklitepe and the world of the last hunters" presents the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Göbeklitepe, and the "Scharf Collection" will be showing its rich collection in the Alte Nationalgalerie. The cool KolonnadenBar and the UFA Film Nights , which I'm particularly looking forward to, will be back in summer. Masterpieces of film history will be screened again at this very special location.
Drive out into the countryside and jump into the lake
Josefine: Are you also so looking forward to when you can stow your coat, scarf and hat at the very back of the wardrobe again. When the days start to get longer in June, the whole of Berlin is drawn outside. First to the parks and gardens, the beer gardens and the many beautiful places along the Panke, Spree and Landwehr Canal. And in summer, it's time to cycle out into the countryside to the lake. Many of the bathing lakes in Berlin and the surrounding area can be easily reached by bike or public transport.

Cheering on the NFL players
Dagmar: As soon as the Berlin Marathon is over in September 2025, autumn will really heat up: none other than the world's biggest professional league of American football, the NFL, will be playing in the Olympiastadion for the first time! I may not personally be an expert in American football, but I'm really looking forward to our many cheerful guests, to the waves of enthusiasm that will then flood Berlin, to moments of happiness and sporting spirit. Even the games of our Berlin Thunder, Europe's professional American football league (ELF) in Berlin, will sweep thousands off their feet. This will be THE big event of the coming year!
