May May is full of public holidays - and Mother's Day usually falls in the merry month too.  There's a lot going on in Berlin on Mother's Day weekend. Whether it's a relaxed brunch, a fragrant walk through seas of flowers or a musical experience - we have put together 11 highlights that will make Mother's Day on 11 May something very special. Discover our top tips now and plan a wonderful day for your mum - and of course for yourself too! 

Tip 1: Start the day with a Mother's Day brunch

Did you already have breakfast in bed last year? How about brunch at one of Berlin's many lovely brunch and breakfast cafés? All Berliners love a meal between breakfast and lunch, especially on days when there's something to celebrate. Here are a few tips from us:

The Estrel invites you to a Mother's Day break with live music and a large buffet. Salmon, prawns, Wiener schnitzel, cheese, antipasti, asparagus and much more will be served, as well as great desserts such as chocolate fountain or strawberry tiramisu.

Celebrate Mother's Day at the Berliner Ensemble's atmospheric courtyard party! Following the season matinée, a colourful programme awaits you in the Helene-Weigel-Hof of the theatre. Swing and sway into Mother's Day with the Be-Tanzorchester. Delicious snacks, Babecue, ice cream, popcorn and cool drinks await you. In addition to music, guided tours and face painting, there will also be costume shoots. Perfect for a very special souvenir picture of your Mother's Day together.

Tip 8: Enjoy asparagus and free music at the Prima-vera festival

On Mother's Day, the Apostel Paulus Kirche invites you to a very special church service from 11 am. The church's own pop choir will be singing as part of the Prima Vera festival. From 3pm you can listen to Jazz with Charlotte Joerges (saxophone) and Isabel Rößer (double bass), from 5 pm there will be country rock with Hard Travlin. The open church weekend takes place at the same time as the Primavera Asparagus Festival. Stroll through the colourful market hustle and bustle, enjoy freshly cut asparagus and enjoy this Mother's Day.

Tip 9: Give the gift of a feel-good day: Wellness & SPAs

Sometimes  all parents want is a day to switch off and relax. In Berlin and the surrounding area, you can do this particularly well in a day spa, one of the beautiful saunas, such as the vabali or Meridian Spa, or in one of the numerous Thermen in the nearby surrounding area. Almost all spas are easily accessible by public transport. Perfect for a day trip at a time or even a gift voucher.

Tip 10: Take a boat trip together

How about a boat tour on the Spree and Landwehr Canal. The tour departs at 11am from the Schlossbrücke in Charlottenburg or at 11.45am from the Reichstagsufer. During the sightseeing tour, you can of course also enjoy a delicious meal and, if the weather is nice, a cool drink in the sun on the deck. And what could be better than having brunch in fine weather while cruising through the government district? Alternatively, you can of course also enjoy a brunch at the Freischwimmer directly on the water brunch or end your Mother's Day outing with coffee and cake on the restaurant boat .

Give your mum an extraordinary and relaxing sound experience! At the "Source Sound" concert in Room 16, Tarun Sainani invites you to close your eyes and let the music take you on a journey inside with traditional and experimental sounds. This will be followed by a sound bowl concert with certified sound and relaxation therapist Ania. A wonderful opportunity to bring Mother's Day to a peaceful close together.
