Whether it’s a relaxed brunch, a fragrant stroll through seas of blossoms or a musical experience – we’ve put together 11 highlights to make Mother’s Day on 10 May something truly special. Tip 1: Start the day with a Mother’s Day brunch

Did you have breakfast in bed last year? How about a brunch in one of Berlin’s many lovely brunch and breakfast cafés? Everyone in Berlin loves this meal between breakfast and lunch, especially on days when there’s something to celebrate. Here are a few tips from us:

The Estrel invites you to a Mother’s Day brunch with live music and a lavish buffet. On offer are salmon, prawns, Wiener schnitzel, cheese, antipasti, asparagus and much more, not to mention fantastic desserts such as a chocolate fountain or tiramisu.

From 8 to 10 May, Ludwig-Beck-Platz will once again become a meeting place for anyone who enjoys combining fine food and drink with craftsmanship. At the Wine Spring festival, you can discover small wineries from Germany and abroad, sample matching culinary delights and enjoy live music on Friday and Saturday. Spend Mother’s Day amongst fragrant flowers, artistic plant arrangements and handmade treasures! At the “Späth’er Frühling” garden market on the historic grounds of the Späth nurseries, you’ll discover colourful perennials, exotic herbs and stylish garden accessories. Celebrate Mother’s Day at the Berliner Ensemble’s atmospheric courtyard festival! Following the season matinee, a colourful programme awaits you in the theatre’s Helene-Weigel-Hof. Dance and celebrateMother’s Day with the Be-Tanzorchester. Delicious snacks, ice cream, popcorn and cool drinks will be on offer. Alongside music, guided tours and face painting, there will also be costume photo shoots – for a very special keepsake photo of your Mother’s Day together.

Tip 8: Enjoy asparagus and free music with your mum at the Prima-vera-Fest

Over the Mother’s Day weekend, Akazienstraße is once again transformed into a lively promenade full of delights, music and arts and crafts. At the Primavera Festival, you’ll find fresh asparagus as well as strawberries, vegetables, herbs and other produce that you can sample directly from the growers. More than 100 stalls, a colourful stage programme and a varied range of activities for children create a real neighbourhood festival atmosphere. The Apostel-Paulus-Kirche will also be opening its doors on both days.

Tip 9: Treat your mum to a day of pampering: Wellness & Spas

Sometimes parents simply want a day to switch off and relax. In Berlin and the surrounding area, you can do this particularly well at a day spa, one of the beautiful sauna complexes such as vabali or Meridian Spa, or at one of the numerous thermal baths in the nearby countryside. Almost all spas are easily accessible by public transport and are perfect for a short break or as a gift voucher.

Tip 10: Go on a boat trip with Mum

How about a boat trip along the Spree and the Landwehr Canal? The tour departs at 11 am from the Schlossbrücke in Charlottenburg or at 11.45 am from the Reichstagsufer. During the sightseeing tour, you can of course enjoy a delicious meal and, if the weather is fine, bask in the sun on the deck with a cool drink. And what could be better than having brunch in fine weather whilst cruising through the government district? Alternatively, you can of course have brunch at Freischwimmer right by the water, or round off your Mother’s Day outing with coffee and cake on the restaurant boat.

Tip 11: Treat your mum to a trip on two wheels

Mother’s Day offers a lovely opportunity to discover Berlin together at a leisurely pace. On a bike, you’re flexible and can decide for yourselves where to stop and how long to stay. Many routes take you away from the main roads through green areas, quiet residential neighbourhoods and along waterways, constantly offering new perspectives on the city.

Along the way, you can take short breaks, linger by a lake or refuel at one of the many local cafés. This turns the day into a relaxing break that lets you experience Berlin in a whole new way.
