Berlin loves food festivals! Whether it’s pasta, cheese, ramen or vegan dishes: there are food-themed events taking place all year round to suit absolutely every taste. We’ve put together our recommendations for autumn culinary events here for you. Bon appétit!

Tip 1: Feast your way through international food trucks at the Kulturbrauerei

At the Kulturbrauerei, you can kick off the foodie year in a relaxed way with street food on the move. Every Sunday, food truck after food truck lines up here, and you can sample international snacks and small dishes without much planning. The event is free to enter and invites you to embrace exactly the kind of Sunday vibe Berlin does so well: stroll, taste, linger. If you like it hot, make a note of the Berlin Chili Fest. At the Berliner Berg Brewery, it’s all about hot sauce, chilli competitions and fiery tastings. Add to that a festival atmosphere, music and the chance to directly compare different levels of heat. For anyone who likes to test just how much heat their tongue can handle, this is the place to be. And if you’re wondering whether everything really has to be spicy: you’ll know the answer by the time you’ve had your first taste.

Every week, the organic market at Kollwitzplatz brings fresh organic produce from Berlin and the surrounding area to the square. Around 40 traders offer fruit, vegetables, baked goods, dairy products and other sustainable goods. It’s less of a classic festival vibe, but much more of a neighbourhood feel and even better quality. If you enjoy shopping mindfully whilst strolling through Prenzlauer Berg, you’ll find a market here that belongs on every foodie’s calendar.

Tip 7: Immerse yourself in the diversity of Asian cuisine at YAAM

Things are set to get international at Schillingbrücke in early July: the Asian Food Festival at YAAM brings you a whole day full of flavours, culture and summer vibes by the water. YAAM itself sees itself as a colourful microcosm with a food market, bars, dance floors and space for socialising. That’s exactly why the festival fits in so well there. You can sample different cuisines, stick around for music or performances, and simply let the day unfold. This is what a festival in Berlin feels like when food and atmosphere come together.

Tip 9: Celebrate Japanese cuisine and pop culture at the Hikari Japan Festival

To kick off August, head to the Hikari Japan Festival at Wilhelm Studios. Here, Japanese street food, workshops, live performances and market stalls come together. You can stroll through the offerings, try something new and get involved yourself in between, for example through hands-on activities or cultural insights. The festival combines food with Japanese culture, creating a day that goes far beyond the plate. If you love variety, this is an event that will pique your curiosity and stay with you for a long time.
