For over 100 years, women have been taking to the streets on 8 March – for rights, visibility and solidarity. In Berlin, this day is not only commemorated, but lived. And since Women's Day 2026 falls on a Sunday, it's perfect for making a whole weekend of it. Take the opportunity to learn more about the topic, listen to works by female composers, visit exhibitions that exclusively feature female artists, and learn more about strong women and their commitment to greater equality and a better world.
You can warm up on Friday at the re-opening at Klunkerkranich, continue the party on Saturday with DJ Madjua, or recharge your batteries on Sunday with concerts, guided tours and inspiring talks. And if you're in the mood for new encounters and a change of perspective, the women's iftar in Berlin's mosques or the guided tour on the history of women in BERLIN GLOBAL* are real highlights. Let's go – here are your 11 tips!
Tip 1: Get started after the winter break at Klunkerkranich
When Berlin slowly thaws again, that's your cue: head up to the roof! At the reopening of Klunkerkranich, you can kick off the weekend with a view – literally above the rooftops of Neukölln.
It's the perfect place to raise a glass with friends, perhaps even catch the first whiff of spring air, and let yourself drift between the bar, beats and cultural programme. Arrive early, grab a good spot at the railing and watch the city sparkle below you.
When: 6 to 8 March, from 4 p.m. each day
Where: Klunkerkranich, Karl-Marx-Straße 66, Neukölln
Spring fever & reopening after the winter break
Tip 2: Celebrate Women's Day at the Deutsches Theater
To kick off Women's* Day, the Deutsches Theater invites you to a curated feminist evening on Friday, 7 March, put together by a working group of DT employees.
Look forward to a mix of film, literature and discussions: Pamela Hogan's "A Day Without Women" (2024) will be shown – a film that resonates and provides food for thought. This will be followed by a feminist reading with Almut Zilcher and Nino Haratischwili. And because debates are best kept alive, there will be a live edition of the podcast "Kantinengespräche" (Canteen Conversations) with Julischka Eichel and Abak Safaei-Rad. Finally, it's time to dance: with DJ Madjua, you can celebrate right into 8 March – in solidarity, loudly and together.
When: 7 to 8 March
Where: Deutsches Theater, Schumannstraße 13 A, Mitte

Tip 3: Have a rummage and find some happiness at the "2nd LADIES FLOHMARKT"
Second-hand love on Women's Day? Yes, please! At the Ladies' Flea Market in the Tanja Fügener photo studio, you can combine treasure hunting with a Sunday stroll. Here you'll find well-preserved items, favourite pieces and maybe just the jacket you didn't know you needed. Take your time, chat with the sellers and treat yourself to the good feeling of sustainable shopping.
Insider tip: come early for the best finds – or late for some relaxed haggling.
When: 8 March, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Where: Fotostudio Tanja Fügener, Laubacher Straße 36, Wilmersdorf
Tip 4: Rediscover history at "Frauenpower II" in the Grunewald hunting lodge
Women, power and everyday life around 1500: sounds like a school textbook? Not here. At Jagdschloss Grunewald, you can take a tour that shows you how clever, strategic and pragmatic women were in the early modern period – as princesses, citizens and representatives of their husbands. You will see portraits, expectations, scope for action and real-life realities.
Perfect if you want to not only celebrate Women's Day, but also understand history. Afterwards, take a walk in the woods – it works wonders.
When: 8 March, 11 a.m.
Where: Grunewald Hunting Lodge, Hüttenweg 100, Grunewald

Tip 5: Listen to Berlin's female pioneers at the Theater Palais
Salon culture, intelligent conversations, courageous hostesses: at the Theater im Palais, you will meet women (often Jewish Berliners) who created spaces for culture and debate in the 18th and 19th centuries, thereby shaping the city. It's inspiring and a bit like taking a walk through Berlin's intellectual DNA.
Ideal if you're in the mood for intelligent stories rather than a loud programme on Women's Day. Afterwards, grab a coffee in the neighbourhood – and continue the discussion.
When: 8 March, 12 noon
Where: Theater im Palais, Am Festungsgraben 1, Mitte
From Rahel Varnhagen to Fanny Lewald
Tip 6: Treat yourself to goosebumps at the concert in St. Matthäus
Choral music by female composers, performed by a female vocal ensemble in a church interior that allows every note to resonate: this is your Women's Day moment to pause and reflect. In St. Matthäus Church, you will hear works that are far too rarely in the spotlight – and that is precisely why they are all the more effective now.
Perfect as a cultural anchor in the afternoon before you move on in the evening. Sit down at the front, close your eyes for a moment – and let yourself be carried away.
When: 8 March, 3 p.m.
Where: St. Matthäus Church, Matthäikirchplatz, Tiergarten
Concert on International Women's Day
Tip 7: Connect with others at "International Women's Day in Berlin Mosques"
Want to experience Women's Day in a different way – openly, warmly and in the spirit of solidarity? Then the Berlin-wide Women's Iftar is for you. Mosques and associations in several locations are opening their doors exclusively to women and inviting them to exchange ideas, meet and break their fast together.
You don't need to "know how" to do anything, just be curious: all women are welcome, regardless of their origin or worldview.
Important: Please register in advance.
When: 8 March, from 4.45 p.m.
Where: Various locations

Tip 8: Celebrate grand emotions at the "Romantic Concert for Women's Day" at the Philharmonie
Sometimes Women's Day is also about treating yourself. An evening full of romance and great melodies awaits you in the chamber music hall of the Philharmonie. Look forward to a real "wow" feeling. Perfect if you want to dress up, sit back and simply enjoy yourself.
Make it a date: with your partner, your best friend or yourself. And yes – a late drink afterwards is a must, of course.
When: 7 March, 8 p.m.
Where: Chamber Music Hall of the Philharmonic, Herbert-von-Karajan-Straße 1, Tiergarten

Tip 9: Writing workshop for Women's Day: Words connect
Around International Women's Day, the free writing workshop "Words Connect" invites you to the Documentation Centre for Flight, Expulsion and Reconciliation. After a joint tour of the exhibition, women's memories and perspectives on flight will be creatively transformed into texts. Participation is free of charge, and the workshop will be held in German, English and Polish.
When: 7 March, 2–5 p.m.
Where: Documentation Centre for Flight, Expulsion, Reconciliation, Stresemannstraße 90, Kreuzberg

Tip 10: Strong women and courageous pioneers: Women's March in Berlin
Women's March – a series of events in Tempelhof-Schöneberg – offers a platform for women who have achieved and created a great deal, but who remain unknown or have not been given sufficient recognition. Women from politics, science, art and business, but also strong women from everyday life today.
Throughout March, you will have the opportunity to discover new perspectives, exchange ideas and think ahead together at workshops, neighbourhood tours, cultural events and discussions.
When: 27 February to 27 March
Where: various venues in Tempelhof-Schöneberg
Tip 11: Pamper yourself in the women's sauna
If you need a little relaxation after all the exciting events and wild parties, why not plan a relaxing evening in the sauna? The Stadtbad Neukölln is hosting a women's sauna on International Women's Day with special infusions, wellness treatments and singing bowls.
Last admission at 7 p.m. Bring your bathrobe and at least two sauna towels and let yourself be pampered!
When: Saturday, 8 March, 12 noon to 8.30 p.m.
Where: Stadtbad Neukölln, Ganghoferstraße 3, Neukölln
