The first rays of sunshine and temperatures well above 10 degrees – spring can begin and we can finally sit outside again and enjoy delicious coffee, cake and much more in Berlin's beautiful cafés. We have picked out a few particularly sunny cafés for you. Some are especially beautiful, located in quiet areas away from busy traffic, with large terraces and lovely views. 11 tips for cafés where you can sit outside and enjoy the sun.

Tip 1: Coffee with a view of the Engelbecken

A classic in Kreuzberg: tucked away right by the water is the Café am Engelbecken. Spring begins when you have breakfast outside on the terrace for the first time of the year, looking out over the Engelbecken, drinking delicious latte and squinting in the sun.

Tip 2: Enjoy a romantic atmosphere at Café Weyers

The Weyers restaurant and café is located directly on Ludwigkirchplatz , where the whole neighbourhood meets in summer. There you can enjoy a delicious breakfast, a cheesecake or simply an aperitif as the sun slowly disappears behind the Ludwigkirche. It is particularly popular with parents whose children can let off steam in the playground or skating and playing football on the square.

Tip 3: Soak up some sun and caffeine at Little MARS

When the sun comes out, Little MARS is the perfect café stop in the park: grab an espresso, iced coffee or fresh smoothie to go and sit right by the lawns of silent green. Between historic walls and sweeping views, your coffee break will feel like a mini holiday – ideal for a walking boost or a little sun break. The cosy Hofcafé in Wannsee feels as if time has stood still. The tables and chairs stand on uneven cobblestones in the rustic courtyard. In addition to delicious cakes, the café also serves a tasty breakfast with freshly baked rolls. And afterwards, you can stock up at the corner shop "Feine Kost".

For years, Café am Neuen See has been one of the city's most popular cafés and beer gardens. No wonder, given its romantic location on the shore of a small lake in the middle of Tiergarten. If you like, you can rent a boat and row out onto the water. Others sit under large trees, eating cake and, later in the evening, pizza, as dusk falls and the candles on the tables are lit.
