The Thai community has given Berlin many cultural treasures. At the forefront of this is a delicious food culture that has become an integral part of the city's culinary scene. Whether it's Pad Thai, Tom Ka Gai or delicious curries at street food markets with a family background or in fine restaurants - our eleven Thai tips have one thing in common: the food tastes like it's fresh from Southeast Asia!
Tip 1: Tim Raue's favourite khao pad at Papaya on Kantstraße

As inconspicuous as Papaya on Kantstraße may seem, the dishes here are really something - so much so that even Michelin-starred chef Tim Raue tips his hat and has named the khao pad the best fried rice in the city. Authentic, straightforward and full of flavours, Papaya serves over 160 dishes from all regions of Thailand.
With fiery Isaan salads, grilled meat dishes and creamy, spicy curries, the kitchen team has been putting a smile on the faces of Charlottenburg's locals for a long time - and occasionally bringing tears to their eyes. So take the spiciness levels indicated on the menu seriously ..
When: Daily from 12 to 10 pm
Where: Kantstraße 122, Charlottenburg
Tip 2: Asian delicacies in the Thaipark and on the Thaibridge

Admittedly: The name Thaipark is not quite correct for our next tip. But the term has become established over the years for Preußenpark, which was originally nothing more than the favourite picnic spot of a German-Thai family. The group quickly grew by word of mouth and more and more people from other Asian countries such as Laos, Cambodia and the Philippines joined them.
Today, Thaipark is a street food market like no other and one of Berlin's most popular open-air restaurants: fragrant dishes are conjured up right in front of your eyes under colourful parasols. And because the concept is so popular, Som Tam, Pad Thai and the sweet Sticky Rice are now also available on some Fridays at the Thai Bridge at Jules B-Part .
When: Friday at Jules B-Part at 12pm, Saturday and Sunday at Thaipark from 12pm to 8pm
Where: Thaipark Markt Berlin, Württembergische Straße, Wilmersdorf and Thai Bridge at Jules B-Part, Park am Gleisdreieck, Kreuzberg
Tip 3: Authentic cuisine at Khon Thai in the Tegel market hall

Khon Thai Berlin is hidden in the charming ambience of the Tegel market hall. Here you can order truly authentic Thai dishes from a small but exquisite menu in warm light and classic wooden furnishings. Because here, they really only cook what the chefs at Khon Thai consider to be their speciality dishes.
From the main course to dessert, the dishes taste just like in Thailand itself. The menu and atmosphere make Khon Thai the ideal place to recharge your batteries after a long stroll through the Tegel market hall with laab gai, yam wun sen or a homemade tom kha soup.
When: Monday to Saturday from 11 am to 8 pm
Where: Grußdorfstraße 5-6 in the Tegel market hall, Tegel
Tip 4: Stylish, creative and delicious at Preeda

A particularly stylish restaurant experience awaits you at Preeda in Prenzlauer Berg, as the owners know a thing or two about interior design. Grey natural stone walls, occasionally adorned with Thai artwork and neon lettering, large glass windows and elegant seating ensure a high-end experience even before the food is on the table.
And Preeda also demonstrates a great deal of flair here: crispy grilled pork belly with macadamia plum sauce and homemade curries are evidence of a skilful combination of classic Thai cuisine with modern sophistication.
When: Monday to Thursday and Sunday from 12pm to 11pm, Friday and Saturday from 12pm to midnight
Where: Bötzowstraße 25, Prenzlauer Berg
Tip 5: Explore the new Thai restaurant Aroii Thai Kitchen in Tempelhof

Aroii Thai Kitchen in Tempelhof is one of the newest additions to Berlin's Thai restaurants. It has quickly made a name for itself with its authentic cuisine. Pad Thai, papaya salad and various soups at moderate prices are always well received and impress with their fresh ingredients and intense flavour.
Sweet Thai tartlets are the crowning glory of the Aroii menu and make a digestive stroll along the nearby Tempelhof harbour all the more attractive. A Tempelhof treat for the palate!

Where: Friedrich-Karl-Straße 9, Tempelhof
Tip 6: Spicy, honest and authentic at Hanuman Thai Curry House

The menu is small, but the flavour is all the greater. Whether red curry, massaman or one of the fiery variations - every dish shows that tradition doesn't have to be boring. Guests rave about the intense, multi-layered flavours that evoke memories of Thailand. One thing is certain: anyone who loves real curry will find a culinary home here.
Behind the concept of Hanuman Thai Curry House is Chef Don, who is passionate about uncompromising flavours. No shortcuts, no gimmicks - just freshly ground pastes, strong herbs such as lemongrass, galangal and kaffir lime leaves and a perfect balance of sweet, sour, salty and spicy.

Where: Skalitzer Str. 96, Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg
Tip 7: Traditional flavours at the Elephant Thai restaurant

Located on the ground floor of a magnificent old Charlottenburg building, the traditional Thai restaurant Elephant has been serving Thai hospitality for over ten years. The gold-embellished wood carvings, ornate fabric panels and lovingly arranged decorative elements are reminiscent of a Thai home - and the dishes taste like they've just come out of mum's cooking pot.
The menu includes classics such as massaman curry, satay skewers with peanut sauce and homemade pad Thai. Everything is freshly prepared and generously portioned. Here you can experience the full cultural depth of Thai cuisine.
When: Monday to Saturday from 11.30 am to 10 pm
Where: Fasanenstraße 15, Charlottenburg
Tip 8: Enjoy Thai delicacies in street food style at Phatcha

Despite its modest size, Phatcha Thai Street Food Restaurant on Berliner Straße is anything but a needle in a haystack: With its bright red façade and lovingly painted wooden sign, the restaurant shows from afar that a particularly warm-hearted kitchen team is working the pans and pots here. The selection is small, but all the tastier for it. You can watch the team prepare your dishes at the open counter and enjoy them on the spot. Here you really do dine like in Thailand - only in Wilmersdorf.
When: Monday, Tuesday and Friday from 11:30 to 18:30
Where: Phatcha - Thai Streetfood Style, Berliner Straße 42A, Wilmersdorf
Tip 9: Let Mai Phai transport you to Thailand

Mai Phai has been bringing the diversity of Thailand to your plate since 2010. Fresh ingredients, homemade curry pastes and a knack for spices make every dish an experience. In addition to classics such as Som Tam Thai, there are always creative surprises. Passionate chefs don't just serve Thai food here, but true explosions of flavour. The Kaeng Phanaeng in particular has it all: creamy, spicy and flavourful.
The atmosphere? Relaxed and warm - like a short holiday in Thailand. If you can't stay, simply order home. But beware: spicy really means spicy here. And that's exactly what we love!
When: Daily 12:00 to 23:00
Where: Mai Phai, Feuerbachstraße 16, Steglitz-Zehlendorf
Tip 10: Taste your way through Thai tapas at Transit

Whether in Mitte, Kreuzberg or Friedrichshain - the Transit restaurants have long been a firm favourite in Berlin's Thai food scene. Instead of large portioned main courses, Transit serves Asian tapas in street food style: crispy pork belly, duck in plum sauce and fresh papaya salad are called Crunchy Strips, Duck in Pyjamas and Party Girl and taste as good as the original, even with a new name.
As a side dish, there is jasmine rice, glass noodle salad and a cold Singha beer. The tapas concept makes the Transit restaurants the ideal place to go for an exuberant gourmet evening with a large group - sharing and sampling is expressly encouraged here!
When: Opening hours depending on the branch
Where: Various branches throughout Berlin
Tip 11: Try the Pad Thai at Bangkok Bites

Just a few steps away from the water tower in Prenzlauer Berg, the sophisticated Bangkok Bites attracts diners with its modern street food flair and authentic flavours. Of course, pad Thai is also served here, as in most Thai restaurants. But at Bangkok Bites, this traditional noodle dish is an absolute signature dish: al dente, flavourful and, according to enthusiastic guests, one of the best in Berlin.
Enjoy the culinary highlights with fine wines from the extensive wine list and make yourself comfortable on the balmy terrace or relax indoors among the tropical plants. Even if the name suggests otherwise: You're the only ones taking a bite here!
When: Monday to Thursday from 12pm to 11pm, Friday and Saturday from 12pm to 11.30pm and Sunday from 12pm to 10pm
Where: Knaackstraße 22, Prenzlauer Berg
