After the fall of the Berlin Wall, Auguststraße became home to a number of galleries. The street is characterised by spaces like Kunst-Werke Berlin that attract international attention. A number of trendy restaurants have also opened recently.

Auguststraße

In the summer, Auguststraße has an almost Mediterranean charm. The many cafés set up tables and chairs on their terraces and the stylish old buildings create a relaxed atmosphere.
One Berlin legend is Clärchens Ballhaus, which has been in operation since 1913. Dance the night away in the nostalgic ambience of the mirror hall. Salsa, tango, and swing dancing are on the agenda throughout the week.
In summer, Berliners and visitors alike to chill out at Strandbar-Mitte, which has no beach despite its name (Strand = beach), but still embodies the typically relaxed Berlin lifestyle.

Rosenthaler Platz

Rosenthaler Platz is where the action is at the centre of the neighbourhood. In the nineties, many kebab shops were found here, but in the years that followed, a more diverse café, restaurant, and bar scene was established. The square is now a favourite spot for many Berliners. The BonBon Bar with different DJs every night and the classy AMANO Bar are just two of the many bars lining Auguststraße.

Torstraße

Rather unexpectedly, Torstraße has become a new nightlife district in Berlin. If it was once a dividing line between the chic and the rather unspectacular parts of the Mitte district, the street has now become an attraction in its own right with the typical Berlin mix of new chic and urban lifestyle.

Linienstraße

You can also find many other highlights off the main roads. For example, on Linienstraße, there are other galleries for art lovers as well as restaurants such as Kopps, which serves vegan cuisine.

What's the best way to get to Auguststraße and Torstraße?

Take the U8 U-Bahn  or the M1 or M8 trams to Rosenthaler Platz.

And, finally, a request:

Being really loud at night is no good. After all, Berliners do need to go to sleep sometime; they might just have to go to work the next day. Therefore, please try to consider the residents and keep it down after 10 pm.
