Berlin is Germany's sportiest city. And not just because of the sheer number of major sporting events held here. One per cent of all Berliners are professional athletes, sport is responsible for generating €1 billion every year in Berlin, and 15,000 Berliners are chiefly employed in the sports sector. It is therefore no surprise that Berlin is regarded as the number one sports venue in Germany.
