In search of traces in the old Prenzlauer Berg

In his photo exhibition STALKER STADT, Diethard Meusel, who has lived in Prenzlauer Berg since 1982 and has been following the rapid transformation of this trendy neighbourhood with his camera for more than three decades, is on the lookout for traces, especially in the back courtyards, of the last remnants of former residential culture, crafts and industry.

The pictures of the "stray flâneur" - "stalking" in its original meaning means "stalking" - are testimonies to East Berlin in the 1990s.

The documentary aspect as well as the aesthetics of decay, the certain charm of the morbid, are what make the photographs of the passionate walker interested in art and history so appealing. "If you want to get to know the invisible, then observe the visible with an open eye," says the Talmud.
