In India people greet the beginning of spring with a spiritual festival of colours. Since 2012, Germans throw the colourful powder into the sky as well.

This year the Holi Festival of Colours is taking place in an unique and historical location in Berlin: the Reitstadion at the Olympiapark. This is the kick-off of the big nationwide Holi Festival of Colours Tour 2013.

The Origin
Every year the people in India welcome the spring in a very special way: "Holi" is the Festival of Colours and one of the most important celebrations of the country. Not only the change of winter to spring is celebrated, moreover the victory of the good over the bad accoriding to the Hindustic Belief. This is a very colourful festival: the people are painting themselves and are throwing colourful powder - the Gulal - on each other. Differences between castes, religions or origins are not visible anymore; social boundaries between social classes, young and old, poor and rich disappear. All people are equal at this day. Cultural diversity, joy, mutual respect and tolerance are making the Holi-Festival unforgettable every year.

The Festival of Colours is taking this atmosphere of the Indian tradition and brings the cultural Festival to Europe. The nationwide first Holi Festival of Colours delighted the people in Berlin in July 2012. Equality and community are the focus of attention at this day - no matter how old the guest are or where they come from. The Holi Festival of Colours has gained a huge popularity in Germany.
