Schöneberg

The colourful nightlife in Schöneberg.

Schöneberg Winterfeldtplatz – © Philip Koschel

Schöneberg has always exuded plenty of lust for life. In the 1920s, Marlene Dietrich used to frequent the legendary “El Dorado” bar. The area around Winterfeldtplatz is bursting with vitality. Rainbow flags flutter from balconies, while as stickers on travel agencies, guest houses or cafés they signalise: gays and lesbians are welcome! This is Berlin’s gay quarter. Berlin institutions of many years standing here include the Café Berio with its changing exhibitions, Slumberland with its sandy floor and West African music, and the Habibi Arab Restaurant.

And one final request:
Being really loud at night is a NO-GO. After all, Berliners need to sleep, too, since most of them have to get up an go to work in the morning. Therefore, please keep it quiet after 10 pm out of respect for your neighbours. Thank you!
