The German History Museum is the official national history museum of the Federal Republic of Germany. The museum’s objective is to present German history from its beginnings to the present day in terms of its international impact as well as its regional diversity.

In permanent exhibitions, more than 8000 historical objects on 7500 sqm tell stories of political events, confrontations and also of social, economical and philosophical developments. On its two floors, the extensive collection provides multimedia information points and educational offerings for a deeper understanding of the exciting and eventful history of Germany in a European context from its very beginnings to current times.

The fascinating architecture of the annex building, constructed by the Chinese-American master architect I. M. Pei, houses ever changing exhibitions on four floors with a total of 2700 sqm.

The German History Museum presents itself as a place of education and mutual understanding about the common history of the Germans and Europeans. The Zeughauskino is a part of the museum and mainly presents film programmes on historical topics. Occasioned by the special anniversary of the Kennedy visit, the Deutsches Historisches Museum is offering free admission to all of its exhibitions and special tours on 26 Jun 2013 from 10am-4pm.
