Christmas in the neighborhood
Neighbors meet in the courtyard of the Bröhan Museum for a festive gathering organized by the “Kiezbündnis Klausenerplatz eV”.
The exhibitors of some 40 stands are specially selected for the Christmas market, where local merchants present their products in particular. The market focuses on the neighborhood's intergenerational community rather than commerce.
So you are sure to find unique gifts: high-quality crafts and beautiful art objects, handmade gifts and beautifully made Christmas decorations. Everything you see on the stands is handmade and with love.
Cultural program of the Christmas market
On the festively decorated stage , schools, dance studios and daycares perform songs, plays and readings for visitors to the Christmas market.
You can also enjoy mulled wine, sausages, crusty bread, coffee, local snacks and homemade cakes. Children's punch and hot chocolate for the little ones as well as mulled wine, coffee with or without digestive and mead for the older ones are obviously there.
Art Nouveau and Art Deco: the Brohän Museum
The Bröhan Museum presents works of art, crafts and Art Nouveau, Art Deco and design furniture from the period between 1880 and 1940. You can visit a succession of rooms decorated with furniture and Art Nouveau elements and admire vases and coffee sets in the simpler style of Art Deco and functionalism. One room is devoted to the works of the Berlin secessionists; there you will find works by Lesser Ury and Walter Leistikow.
