Reminder and remembrance

The National Socialist era is unforgotten in Berlin. Throughout the city, memorials such as the Topography of Terror, museums and documentation centres such as the Documentation Centre for Nazi Forced Labour serve as reminders and reminders. In monuments and sculptures, such as those commemorating the burning of books on Bebelplatz or the women on Rosenstraße, artists have dealt deeply with the subject and enriched the cityscape. In everyday life, the Stolpersteine (stumbling stones) on the pavements throughout Berlin refer to the victims of National Socialism.

Exhibitions, guided tours, readings and many other event formats commemorate the horrors of the time, exclusion, suffering, persecution and murder. The commemoration is kept alive through deeper thematic discussions, while at the same time ways into the future are discussed.
