Ángela (Miriam Garlo), a deaf woman, is expecting a child with Héctor (Álvaro Cervantes), her hearing partner. The birth of their daughter strains their relationship and forces Ángela to face the challenge of raising her daughter in a world that isn’t made for her.

In the words of Eva Libertad after receiving the Gaudí Award for Best Director: “I hope this award helps draw attention to the deaf community and the diversity of people in Europe, as well as promote inclusive policies that improve their living conditions. I also hope it helps change society’s view of diversity so that it is no longer seen as a problem but rather perceived as a human asset.”

The film premiered at the 2025 Berlinale, where it won the Audience Award in the Panorama section, and has since received an impressive array of awards—in various categories of the Gaudí Awards, the Goya Awards, the Platino Awards, and many other competitions. The highlight to date was winning the European Film Academy and European Parliament LUX Audience Award in 2026. Sorda has since been released in more than 50 countries.

Following the screening, there will be a Q&A session with the audience, moderated by Olivia López Bremme, accompanied by a wine from the Mallorcan winery Ànima Negra and appetizers courtesy of the Hotel Gat Point Charlie (GatRooms).

The admission price is €10 and includes the film, the discussion, the aperitif, and all taxes. Tickets are available via the Babylon website.

The Cicle Gaudí in Berlin is organized by the Catalan Film Academy, in collaboration with the Ramon Llull Cultural Institute, with the support of the Mallorcan winery Ànima Negra, the Hotel GatRooms, and the magazine Desbandada, and with the kind support of Babylon.
