Mörchenpark

Urban Gardening along the River Spree

Room for gardening ideas and creative leisure" is the motto of the Verein Mörchenpark e.V. Together with landscape gardeners and educators, the association holds regular workshops and hobby gardeners can try their hand at organic farming right in the middle of the city.

On 1 May 2013, the Mörchenpark celebrated its grand opening with just a few tents and balloons on dusty sand. By the hundreds, Berliners and other guests came to the site in Friedrichshain's Holzmarkt neighbourhood. And they brought plants to fill the area with new life. And this is the principle behind the Mörchenpark to this day: "Room for gardening ideas and creative leisure" is the motto of the Verein Mörchenpark e.V. Together with landscape gardeners and educators, the association holds regular workshops and hobby gardeners can try their hand at organic farming right in the middle of the city. From the spring festival until harvest thanksgiving, residents and visitors to the city are regularly invited to events. The Mörchenpark is part of the Holzmarkt neighbourhood along the banks of the Spree. The southern part of the neighbourhood is being turned into an artists' colony with urban gardening spaces, while the northern end is being turned into residential and office space for people working in the creative sectors.
