Official record release talk with Wolfgang Müller and guests Claudia Urbschat-Mingues and Jörg Buttgereit.
In a very small edition of only twenty copies, the audiotape „Die Tödliche Doris bewirbt sich um einen Sitz im Berliner Senat“ (Tödliche Doris applies for a seat in the Berlin Senate) was released in May 1981, shortly before the polls for the West Berlin Senate. The A-side contained Tödliche Doris‘ political agenda presented by Wolfgang Müller and Nikolaus Utermöhlen, while the B-side featured „Music for the electorate“.
Timed to coincide with the 40th anniversary of the cassette’s first release plus the forthcoming 2021 elections to the Berlin Senate, Bremen-based Galerie K‘ has edited a remake of this rare tape as 7-inch vinyl.
The text is narrated by the dubbing actor Claudia Urbschat-Mingues,widely known as off-air voice for the newscast Tagesschau and as the German dubbing voice of Angelina Jolie. Her multi-faceted voice is also highlighted in Wolfgang Müller’s award-winning radio plays Séance Vocibus Avium (2008) and Intervallum – hommage to intervals (2016).
Wolfgang Müller will have a chat about „Music for the electorate“ with Jörg Buttgereit and Claudia Urbschat-Mingues. Hermoine Zittlau will be singing the aria from the Tödliche-Doris opera Autofahrt in Deutschland (1987): „Ein Schrei aus tausend Kehlen bildet das Reich. Zu Zahlen werden die Seelen und machen an die zweitausend Sachen.“[A cry from a thousand throats will create the empire. Souls transform into numbers and do two thousand things.]
