VR ART PRIZE of the DKB in cooperation with CAA Berlin
Scholarship holders of the VR KUNSTPREIS of the DKB in cooperation with CAA Berlin considered how people can use new technologies for a fairer, more diverse and more personal togetherness. In doing so, they also take up the social change in values and norms that is taking place and link their speculations with current debates.
With the help of the medium of virtual reality and site-specific spatial installations, the artists created accessible, immersively tangible utopias. Diess deal critically with artificial intelligence, 3D scanning, animation techniques, research in natural sciences or the metaverse.
UNLEASHED UTOPIA
The idea of a better world is closely linked to the topic of utopias. The term literally means a good but non-existent place. He means the draft of an ideal society as a critique of the existing situation. Utopias are based on questions like: What happens if you change a few rules? How can people live well together? In this way, utopias always harbor great potential for social change and visions for a better future.
