Tomer Gardi, born in 1974 in Kibbutz Dan in Galilee, studied literature and education in Tel Aviv and Berlin. In 2016 his debut novel Broken German was published. The radio play received the German Radio Play Prize in 2017 and Gardi received the Alfred Döblin Scholarship in 2019 with his second novel »Otherwise you get your money back«.

He won the 2022 Leipzig Book Fair Prize for his novel »A Round Thing« (Droschl), in which two artists from two different centuries travel through linguistic and cultural spaces and are constantly on the move.
