"Kids Curate_Takeover. A project by the Stiftung Brandenburger Tor and the Gropius Bau",
With "Kids Curate_Takeover. A project by the Stiftung Brandenburger Tor and the Gropius Bau", Berlin primary school pupils realise their own exhibition on-site at the Gropius Bau. The exhibition explores how to see and understand the world through children’s eyes, through such sensory themes as movement and shadows; the exhibition as a game; interactions between light and water; and the interplay of sound and nature.
The three-year project is realized by the Gropius Bau in cooperation with the Brandenburg Gate Foundation.
The aim is to involve children in artistic and curatorial processes.
The project enables Berlin schoolchildren to experience and follow the path from art production to an independently curated exhibition. Elementary school students currently participating in the program Max - Artists in Residence at Elementary Schools of the Brandenburg Gate Foundation regularly visit the Gropius Bau and learn about the operational activities, processes, and professions within the exhibition house.
Participating schools include Carl-Humann-Grundschule, 48th Grundschule, Heinrich-von-Stephan-Gemeinschaftsschule and Picasso-Grundschule.
