Six Day Berlin 2019

If it is cold in winter and you are reluctant to stop outside, the Berliner Sechstagerennen lures the fans into the covered Lattenrund, in order to see a thrilling top sport in an exhilarating mood.

There have always been various cycling competitions at the Sixth Days, including Steher, Derny and Sprint races.
The railroad race, which is modeled on bicycle races in England and the USA, can now look back on more than 100 years of tradition. For the first time, it was held in an exhibition hall at the Zoological Garden in 1909. From 1911 it was carried out in the popular Berlin Sportpalast and also attracted international cyclists such as Piet van Kempen, the "flying Dutchman". In 1924, Richard Huschke and Franz Krupkat set the world record of 4544.2 kilometers, which is still legendary and unmatched today. The fatal collision of Rudi Mirke and Gerard van Beek of 1951 was fortunately an exception. After the demolition of the Sportpalast in 1973 the Sixdays moved to the Deutschlandhalle and in 1999 the Velodrome at Landsberger Allee.
This place can also look back on a tradition of cycling pasture, as the Velodrome used to be the Werner-Seelenbinder-Halle, where the East Berlin seasons were held. Top sports and entertainment Not only the range of first-class national and international professional sportsmen makes the Berlin "Sixdays" a popular event, but of course also the attractive show and entertainment program. Celebrities present a tryst at the Berlin Sechstagerennen. At the starting shot of the respective Sixdays are traditionally persons of the public life involved.

This mix attracts about 75,000 visitors annually - as much as anywhere else in the world.
