Mein Name ist Mensch
Rio Reiser and his band Ton Steine Scherben showed even before Udo Lindenberg that rock music can also be German. Reiser did not write hit lyrics that ended up in Dieter Thomas Heck's "Hit Parade", his songs had social explosive power and provided the soundtrack for the awakening of an entire generation.
"Keine Macht für Niemand", for example, was not played on West German stations for a long time, nor were such poetic love songs as "Komm schlaf bei mir" from 1972.
Director Frank Leo Schröder staged "Rio Reiser" in 2017 at the Hans Otto Theater in Potsdam and received much positive feedback from the press and the audience. The production was even nominated for the Friedrich Luft Prize.
